The project united several regions: St. Petersburg, Moscow, Moscow Region, Permskiy Kray, Sverdlovsk and Tyumen Regions. Distances are not chosen by chance. In 2018 the route will pass through the cities – places of memory of the Romanov dynasty, and will be dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the tragic events in the history of our country.
The aim of the Imperial Route project is the revival of the foundations of the historical, cultural and spiritual component of Russia, its achievements during the reign of the Romanov Dynasty. The route will show how the family of the last Emperor lived and kept high traditions of piety, being generous patrons and tireless benefactors.
Handwriting in the diary of Nicholas II
«From now on, there is no more separation, at last, we are united, constrained to live together, and when the life here comes to an end, we will meet again in another world, to be together forever. Yours, yours».
Siberia. The land, where the shadows of the past are everywhere – from Yermak, the conqueror of this land, to the representatives of the Romanovs' dynasty who have been here many times. Touch the history and visit the places where the Imperial Family members stayed. Among such places, there are the Kolokolnikovs House Museum – a classical manor house with elements of wooden architecture visited by Tsesarevich (crown prince) Alexander and a poet Vasily Zhukovsky – his mentor and friend; the Ilyinsky Nunnery with the Worship Cross erected on its territory in memory of the Passion-Bearers. You will also know the history of the Aleksandrovsky Real School and why the Vladimirsky Orphanage was established. You will see a memorable place where the family of the last Russian Emperor after walking several meters along shaky wooden footbridges, moved from the train to the ship named Rus, going to the exile in Tobolsk. Now there is the Royal Pier. The path ran through the village of Pokrovskoye – one more destination point of The Imperial Route, but a mysterious one. This is the homeland of Grigori Rasputin, whose prediction came true to the full: "Willy or not, they will come to Tobolsk and, before they die, they will see my native village." An ingenious seer or a false prophet? The curtain of secrecy will be revealed only to those who visit these places. Visit the private museum house of G. Rasputin, which was based on personal belongings, notes, as well as original photographs by Grigori Efimovich and his family.
A friend of the Imperial Family
«Willy or not, they will come to Tobolsk and, before they die, they will see my native village».
Tobolsk was founded only a year later than Tyumen – in 1587, at the high place called Trinity Cape, where Tobol and Irtysh rivers merge. It was called Gate of Asia, Father of Siberian Cities. The history of Tobolsk included events closely associated with the Imperial Family: from April 1693 to January 1698 Andrei Fyodorovich Naryshkin, who was a cousin of Tsarina Natalia Kirillovna (mother of Emperor Peter I), was assigned as a city voivode. In the city, the Yermak's Garden and the monument to Yermak were founded according to the decree of Emperor Nicholas I. Tobolsk journey starts with a visit to such places as the Governor-General House, where from August 1917 to April 1918 the Imperial Family lived; and the Ioanno-Vvedensky Nunnery – its sisters secretly supported the family with possible assistance. It is also an excellent chance to visit the Tobolsk Kremlin – a magnificent white stone fortress of the 17th century, the only one beyond the Urals, with located on its territory Palace of the Governor. The Provincial Museum was the first museum building in Siberia, which was visited by the Tsesarevich (crown prince) Nikolas in 1891 and was taken under his highest patronage. Not far from the city, there is Abalak Holiday Villiage, which is an actual reconstruction of the Siberian fortress of those times, when Cossacks of ataman Yermak Timofeyevich started the Siberian conquest; there is also Abalaksky Svyato-Znamensky Monastery, which was happened to visit by the family of Nicholas II during the exile. From the Tobolsk province as a gift, the Emperor was presented with a miraculous icon of Abalak Mother of God. Nowadays, Tobolsk has all rights to retain the status of the spiritual capital of Siberia.
