In 1987, it was decided to create the Square of Memory instead of an unnamed area near the Geolog House of Culture. Nowadays, there is a soldier's alley and a memorial in memory of Tyumen citizens who died on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War, as well as the mass grave of soldiers who died of wounds in hospitals in Tyumen. A unique feature is the enormous pylons, which bear the surnames of 6,500 Tyumen citizens, who folded their heads in the battles for their motherland. A favorite meeting place for Tyumen citizens is a stele, symbolizing a candle, the height of which reaches 29 meters.
