There are not so many charming brick buildings in the wooden center of Tyumen, but a fascinating one with an outbuilding once belonged to the family of Novoselovs. Passing by the building with the address 21 Khokhryakova Street, pay attention to its window frames, curved pediments, cornice, and pilasters.
More than a hundred years ago, a store, storerooms and a carriage of merchant Ivan Afanasyevich Novoselov were located here. This talented merchant, who moved with his father to Tyumen from the Turin district, made a fortune on the supply of stone to equip the pavement and the sawmill located near the mouth of the Babarynka River.
Nearby, under the same serial number, but already along Dzerzhinsky Street, stands its wooden neighbor – a two-story house on a brick foundation. It once was a family inn. To date, the building needs restoration. But through time it carried the ornate patterns of carving, which can be seen on the board-panels framing the windows.
